St. Marienkirche, Kyritz, Germany

Kyritz, Germany - a suburb of Berlin. This charming church housed a three manual instrument built by the firm of Reubke - the father of the promising composer, Julius Reubke. Julius was a student of Franz Liszt, and premiered his magnum opus for organ solo - Sonata on the 94th Psalm - at age 23 before succumbing to a "lung attack" at age 24.
This instrument is the largest and last instrument of this builder and was, at the time of the pictures, (1995) undergoing a restoration. It uses a tubular pneumatic action, and as such, is quite light to the touch.
